Road Transport Workers:
Professional, technical and skilled personnel experienced in operation, repair and maintenance of vehicles including trucks and heavy vehicles are available. Such personnel include mechanical engineers, automobile engineers, auto-mechanics, painters, auto-electricians, internal combustion engine artificers, engine fitters and related workers.
Drivers ot cars and heavy vehicles including tractors, trailers, trucks with several years of experience and sound theoretical background are abundantly available.
Port and Water Transport Workers:
Bangladesh is a rivering country and Bangladeshis are well-known as daring sea-farers in the world. There are two sea ports and several inland river ports in the country.
Persons of all categories needed in administration and operation of port facilities at international level of efficiency are available. These include Inland Master, Engine Drivers (Tug, self-propelled Barge), pre-sea trained Nautical Cadets, Stevedores, Tally Clerks, Crane Drivers, Fork Lift Operators, Security personnel and Management personnel.
Bangladesh maintains a fleet of ocean-going vessels, coastal vessels and inland water vessels. Personnel to man these vessels, like technicians, seamen, crew, cooks and other categories are . trained within the country and abroad and the training imparted is of international standard.
Manpower for Financial Institutions: .
Bangladesh has a net work of commercial banks and development banks covering even the remote areas of the country. Persons experienced in central banking operation are also available in Bangladesh. Normally university graduates are recruited for supervision and managerial position in the banking institutions and they are trained through a scheme for training of bankers. In addition, the Bangladesh Institute of Bankers provides for higher training of international standard to serving banking personnel. Similarly persons with long experience in insurance activities of all types are available in the country and suitable arrangements for training such personnel also exist in the country.
Persons experienced in Trade and Commerce activities:
Several large trading houses dealing with wholesale, retail import and export trade and indenting are operating in Bangladesh in the private as well as public sector. State Corporations dealing with import and export matters have also been established in the country for several years now. Personnel working in these establishments are familiar with all aspects of local and international trade and they are, in most cases, University graduates.
Persons with experience in economic planning, social planning and related matters:
Economists, statisticians and other social scientists with long experience of plan formulation and imple-mentation are available in the country. Such personnel include those with Ph.D. or equivalent degree from Western and local Universities.
Persons with University and higher level degrees in agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry and fisheries with several years of experience in agricultural development, livestock, fisheries and forestry development and in research and educational activities are available in the country.
